The Role:
We are seeking a talented Generalist Designer who bridges game design, UI/UX, and visual design to create intuitive, engaging experiences. The ideal candidate will design and implement interactive systems, user flows, and interfaces that transform complex data concepts into accessible, compelling experiences across web and mobile platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing gameplay inspired systems, mechanics, and interaction patterns that make complex data visualization intuitive and engaging.
- Creating comprehensive UI/UX solutions including wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that balance aesthetics with functionality.
- Collaborating with artists, engineers, and product teams to translate concepts into polished, user centered designs that align with technical constraints and business goals.
- Developing and maintaining visual design systems, UI elements, iconography, and interaction patterns that ensure product consistency and accessibility.
- Conducting user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and iterate based on feedback and analytics.
- Working end-to-end from concept ideation through implementation, partnering with developers to ensure designs are built to specification.
- Documenting design rationale, interaction specifications, and best practices to facilitate cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of professional experience as a game designer, or generalist designer working on web, mobile, or game applications.
- Demonstrated experience shipping products from concept through production and deployment.
- Strong portfolio showcasing UI/UX design, interaction design, user flows, wireframes, and visual design work.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools: Figma, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), and prototyping tools.
- Experience designing complex systems or data-driven applications, with the ability to simplify sophisticated concepts into intuitive user experiences.
- Strong grasp of user-centered design methodology, including user research, usability testing, and iterative design processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and defend design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A collaborative, respectful attitude with a desire to contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.
- A growth mindset and willingness to take on new challenges, absorb feedback, and develop new skills.
- Enthusiasm for joining a small, fast-moving team where adaptability and curiosity are key to success.
Extra Points:
- Experience with game design principles including progression systems, feedback loops, and player motivation.
- Hands-on experience in Unity, Unreal Engine, or web-based frameworks (React, THREE.js, WebGL).
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to better collaborate with development teams.
- Background in designing for data visualization, dashboards, or analytics platforms.
